Year 3 Blog

Y3 maths

We have had a break from number work over the past two weeks and have spent our lessons learning about different types of angles, parallel and perpendicular lines, and properties of 3D shapes.  Here are a few of the children exploring and discussing shapes with their partners.

Back to multiplication tomorrow!

Y3 World Book Day

What fun we had on World Book Day!  All of the children looked amazing in their character costumes.  Thank you!

Y3 Retelling of Roman myth

Wrens class were very successful in their retelling of the Roman myth, Romulus and Remus. They used a story board and actions to help them to remember the details. Well done!

Y3 – Robins’ assembly song

Hi Robins!

Below is a link to the song for our class assembly on Thursday, 9th February.  Please practise it as much as possible at home.

Thank you,

Mrs Snelling and Miss Carney

Y3 Skeletons

As part of our topic, animals including humans, we have learnt about our need for a skeleton.  We can name some of the bones in our body and know which vital organs that they protect.  We are in the process of creating a display of skeletons. Here we are drawing human, horse, dog and bird skeletons, as well as cutting and fixing together human ones that move!

Swans/Herons Swimming lessons

Swans (Monday 30th January), Wrens (Tuesday 31st January) and Herons (Wednesday 1st February) swimming lessons will held at the Marina Centre this week.  The lessons finish at 3.00pm and we will be back to school as soon as we can.

Y3 glockenspiel lessons

The children really enjoy their music lessons in class. They are learning how to play along to different music with a glockenspiel at the moment. They work well in pairs to help each other. We love the concentration on their faces!

We have had a slight change to our timetable.  Children will now have their outside Games lesson on Tuesdays and their indoor PE lesson on Wednesdays.  Please can you ensure that your child has their kit, including a tracksuit during the colder months.  Thank you!

Y3 Our visit from an Arctic explorer!

On Friday 6 January, Year 3 had a visit from Mr Adrian Hall, a real life Arctic explorer.  His visit was extremely interesting and we all learnt a lot from his talks.  This was a great start to our new topic – Polar Regions.

Y3 Christmas party

We had great fun at our Christmas party. We played lots of games and danced the afternoon away!
